ProCure21 signs up to CBH to safeguard work related health for their construction workforce

01/07/2010

The ProCure21 Framework for the delivery of capital schemes for the NHS , has signed up to the Constructing Better Health (CBH) Client Charter. They are collaborating with CBH to encourage improvements in the management of occupational health throughout the supply chains engaged on the P21 National Framework and this will continue under the new P21+ National Framework.

Cliff Jones, Senior Policy & Performance Manager said, “ProCure21 is seen as a case study in best practice for the implementation of frameworks by NAO and OGC. Working with CBH we want to encourage our supply chains to improve their management of the health of those that deliver the projects under the framework. Working with the CBH and through the CBH client charter we will encourage all our framework contractors and their supply chains to develop their approach to the management of occupational health.”

The ProCure21 National Framework includes many of the UK leading construction companies as well as many large and small sub-contractors in their supply chains. The CBH CHAT (Construction Health Action Toolkit) database and software package will enable these contractors and those within their supply chains to demonstrate to us that they are managing the occupational health of every worker at site level.

Mr Jones continues: “Our commitment towards delivering exceptional healthcare facilities for the UK needs to ensure that we are addressing the health of all that are directly engaged in delivering them within the supply chain.. As we set the standard, so should we lead by example of how to deliver without causing detriment to the construction workforce and unnecessarily generating additional patients for the NHS.”

Michelle Aldous, Chief executive of Constructing Better Health, said: “ProCure21 has a strong reputation for delivering healthcare buildings in the UK. We look forward to adding our expertise to complement to their professional excellence by creating a robust foundation for their workers’ health. ”
