Health and Safety hard-hitter Cheryl Toms joins the CBH team

13/04/2011

Cheryl Toms, UK construction industry hard-hitter in Health and Safety, joins CBH as their new Scheme Membership Coordinator.

Ms Toms joins CBH from Morgan Sindall (formerly Morgan Est) where she was a Training Advisor and H&S trainer. Before joining Morgan Sindall, she was, for a short time, Project Manager and advisor for CSCS and the roll out of CSCS H&S testing for the London Olympics Build Programme, passing on her knowledge and experience gained while working extensively with BAA. As Support Manager for the Airport Construction Training Alliance and also as CSCS Health & Safety Test Centre Manager at Terminal 5, she proved an effective liaison with external stakeholders regarding several aspects of work-based learning.

Ms Toms’ career to date has culminated in her extensive knowledge in H&S legislation, training implementation, business and local community liaison and an effective hands-on approach to communicating the value of health and safety in the industry. She says of her new role at CBH, “With my experience in large organisations, I can really appreciate the extraordinary tools that CBH has created which are easily accessible to SMEs, not just large companies. It’s a significant breakthrough in reaching construction industry staff that have not had effective and organised OH support before - it’s a message I’m excited about sharing.”

Michelle Aldous, Chief executive of Constructing Better Health, said: “We are delighted to have Cheryl Toms as part of our team. We are sure that her invaluable experience is going to prove an asset in achieving our goal to fill the vacuum of occupational health support in the UK construction industry.”
