Constructing Better Health

HAVE YOUR SAY – Give us your input on Construction Industry Standards consultation

Originally released in 2007, the standards for managing work-place related health across the construction industry have led the way in securing robust guidelines for achieving strong occupational health practice in the UK. In response to feedback and following a formal review process, CBH have published proposed changes to the Construction Industry Standards on their website for consultation. Key industry stakeholders are invited to give input to these proposals.

Among the new proposals there are added categories covering Divers, Geotechnicians, Marine operatives and professionals. There are also new safety critical categories for Scaffolders, Steeplejacks, Slingers, Signallers, Bankmen and Traffic Marshalls.

The proposed changes reflect current UK health and safety legislation, and ensure key decision makers across the industry have access to up-to-date information regarding occupational health practice.

The consultation response form and a copy of the draft revised industry standards can be found on the CBH web page at All contributions will be taken into consideration and feedback given.

Your input is key to making this consultation a success.   The closing date for consultation in on 5th August.
