Detailed below are clauses that may be written into project contracts for CBH Client members (who have signed up the CBH Charter). The CBH Scheme is a not for profit organisation that has been created by industry for employers to manage the Workplace Health of its workers.

  • Standard: Comply and implement the Scheme in accordance with the industry standards for managing workplace health.

PQQ

In addition to the main project contract clause, CBH recommends that the following questions (scored) be placed in the PQQ Health & Safety Section.

Does your organisation have an Occupation Health (OH) programme in place for your employees? If so please include a copy of your OH policy statement.

Is your organisation a member of Constructing Better Health (CBH)? If yes, please provide a copy of your membership certificate.

What percentage of your employees are CBH carded?
 
Contract Clauses

1 - for contractors with supply chain

The Contractor shall be a member of the Constructing Better Health (CBH) scheme and make best endeavours to ensure that all subcontractors and suppliers of any tier undertaking construction work on this contract also are members. The Contractor shall ensure that the CBH Standards for workplace health management, fitness for task assessment of safety critical and non safety critical personnel in line with the CBH Health Assessment Matrix are implemented on this contract, and that outcomes from the Health Checks are recorded in the CBH National Database. The Contractor shall ensure that any individual active within ‘The Works’ (including subcontractors and suppliers of any tier) are registered with CBH and issued with a CBH card, enabling them to demonstrate they are ‘Fit for Task’, through the checking of CBH cards on site.

2 - for contractors without supply chain

The Contractor shall be a member of the Constructing Better Health (CBH) scheme. The Contractor shall ensure that the CBH Standards for workplace health management, fitness for task assessment of safety critical and non safety critical personnel in line with the CBH Health Assessment Matrix are implemented on this contract, and that outcomes from the Health Checks are recorded in the CBH National Database. The Contractor shall ensure that any individual active within ‘The Works’ are registered with CBH and issued with a CBH card, enabling them to demonstrate they are ‘Fit for Task’, through the checking of CBH cards on site.
